What It Means When Someone Says You’re Glowing

The Unexpected Conversation
Last Thursday, in the middle of an eyebrow lamination appointment while chatting with my esthetician, she said something that left me speechless for a moment. "My friend, you are glowing."
What?! I was barely recovered from a sinus infection that kept me on the couch for days right after returning from a work trip that took me from North Carolina to California. I was confused by this statement because in reality I felt anything BUT glowing.
Feeling Disconnected
I felt ugly.
Not truly ugly in the sense of not liking myself, but not loving the way I looked at the moment.
My hair was a mess after not washing or brushing it for days. My face was breaking out after a very inconsistent skin care regimen. My skin was looking dull after inconsistent sleep and puffy from sinus pressure.
The day of my appointment was the first time I truly got showered and put on regular clothes in a week.
Not only was I feeling rundown physically, but I felt disconnected mentally as well.
I've built my business through social media. This is how I build community and make sales. When I'm not posting, I'm not making money.
After two weeks of rarely posting due to traveling and sickness, I noticed the lack of sales, which led to a bleeding bank account. Mediocre orders and a low bank account led to anxiety and uncertainty.
I was in such a daze from my mind racing with thoughts regarding my upcoming event, I didn't even remember this comment until we met again the following Saturday at The Body Confidance Party.
A Core Memory Made
My serial entrepreneur friend is not only a multi-talented esthetician providing waxes and facials, but she also hosts a podcast, She Thrives 101. She attended my event representing her podcast hosting interviews with the guests and capturing the event through photos and videos.
When it was my turn to be interviewed as the event host, I was asked the question, "What is something my body has carried me through that I am thankful for?"
My response, "Over the last two years I've had a parent in hospice pass away while working overtime to save a struggling small business. I lost my appetite and my hair due to stress and lack of nutrition.
Now, my situation has changed. I'm facing new and different challenges as a small business owner, but I'm living a more relaxed and happy life."
I was not expecting the words that came out of my friend's mouth next. "I can tell. You're absolutely glowing tonight. I told you that you were glowing the other day too." This statement jogged my memory. Oh my goodness, she did say that.
How can someone who feels so much anxiety, has struggled with countless sleepless nights, and is just getting over a terrible sickness be glowing?
Because the glow had nothing to do with my external challenges.
The glow came from my excited outlook on life.
New Outlook on Life
Something I've learned about myself is that I will always rise to the occasion.
Failure is not an option for me.
So when sales slowed down, posting stopped, and I gave my mind a break, I was able to gain clarity on what I see for my future.
I'm here to be an inspiration, a guide, a role model, a helper. I'm creating something exciting for the body positive and female entrepreneur community.
During the interview I was right in the middle of living out one of my dreams. This event is something I had been thinking about for one whole year. Then it was time.
Time to have fun. Time to see all the smiles on my guests' faces. Time to see women light up and embrace their inner confidence.
The Definition of Glowing - According to Me
I used to think 'glowing' meant that you had clear skin, silky hair, and a flawless outfit.
Now, I know that 'glow' comes from happiness on the inside.
When you love yourself and feel empowered in your purpose, that inner shine can't help but be noticed on the outside.
